Firemen dealt with a dramatic car fire next to St John’s church today. No one was hurt and the fire brigade prevented the fire spreading to the nearby church.
“Someone coming to a meeting parked their car, saw smoke coming from under the bonnet and it very quickly burst into flames,” said Rev Tim Treanor, rector at St John’s.
“Fortunately the fire brigade were on the scene very quickly. No injuries and no damage – except to the car itself so we got off lightly.”
Many thanks to reader Aimee Parkes who took these dramatic photos – and who dialled 999 for the fire service.
