Wellington girl Carly Bawden had a key role in the opening episode of BBC2’s flagship autumn drama Close to The Enemy.
The story is set in the immediate aftermath of WW2 when British intelligence agencies are trying to persuade German scientists to work for the Allies. Director Stephen Poliakoff explores the complex loyalties – and betrayals – at play in the situation.
Carly plays Ruth, a junior member of the surveillance team listening in to the conversations between agents and target.
Carly left Wellington School in 2006 to study at the Guildford School of Acting. Since then she has had a number of major stage roles, including playing Eliza Doolittle in a revival of My Fair Lady.
