Three of Wellington’s Primary Schools have begun the new school year with changes in their leadership teams.
Wellesley Park Primary School is to have a new Head teacher from January 2019. Long-standing Head Lindsay Gabriel who has suffered a prolonged period of ill-health and has been absent from the school since Easter has decided that she will not return. An interim Head has been appointed for one term.
On 1 September Wellesley Park joined The Castle Partnership Trust which includes Taunton’s Castle School and Court Fields School, Wellington. The Trust’s Executive Head, Sarah Watson, has issued the following statement:
“The school is sad to report that Miss Gabriel, after a period of ill health, decided she needed to have some time for herself and her family. The Castle Partnership Trust is fortunate to have an excellent relationship with the Uffculme Trust who has lent us the very able Mrs Dentith from Uffculme Primary. Mrs Dentith has taken her school from Special Measures to Good with Outstanding features in a very short space of time and is leading the school in the interim. There is advert for a new Headteacher going out shortly.”
In her letter to Wellesley Park’s parents, Ms Watson added, “We wish [Miss Gabriel] all the best and hope that this rest will give her time for a speedy recovery and that she returns to education soon.”
Rachel Mollett was appointed as Acting Head at the school during the summer term but has since taken up a permanent appointment as Head of a London primary school.
Governors of St John’s C of E Primary School have appointed Olly Priestley as Head following the departure of Mary Clothier after one year at the school.
At Rockwell Green Primary School Nigel Andrews takes over as Acting Headmaster from Morwenna Dunstan who was Head for 10 years and was appointed as Head of St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Bridgwater in June.
