Chelston Park and Gardens Nursing and Dementia Homes, West Buckland Road, have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ overall in the latest inspection report issued by the Care Quality Commission on 30th December 2017. The homes were rated as ‘Good’ in the last inspection.
The report, available on the CQC website, details feedback from residents, their families and friends. It states: “The home continues to provide an outstandingly caring service. People were supported by a staff team who were happy in their work and who were committed to ensuring people received the best possible care. People and their relatives spoke highly of the staff team.”
The two-day inspection also took into account the opinions of health-care professionals and the local community.
Simona Ionita, one of Chelston Park’s Registered Managers, said: “We receive fantastic support from the local GPs, district nurses and community psychiatric nurses, Somerset Adult Social Care, the Clinical Commissioning Group as well as our local community in Wellington.”
Registered ManagerJo Girdler, added, “Success in a care home is all about the staff group working well together and with other care professionals to deliver the best services.”
Out of 251 care homes in the Taunton area only seven have an overall CQC rating of ‘outstanding’.
Mrs Girdler said: “Very few care providers are rated as outstanding by CQC and it is a testament to everyone’s hard work that Chelston has been recognised.
“It makes it all worthwhile to know we are providing an outstanding service and have our efforts formally recognised.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our residents, families, friends, our team and local health and social care teams for their support which has made this possible.
“We are committed to maintaining and improving standards and look forward to celebrating with our residents, staff and visitors.”
