The fun-filled activities planned by the town council start with the Switch On of the Christmas Lights next Saturday 24 November. High Street will be closed to traffic from 4pm onwards to become the venue for a variety of entertainment.
Father Christmas will be arriving to take his place in his Grotto, escorted by the Wellington Majorettes. The Majorettes will give their usual excellent Christmas themed display. This will be followed by a display of Bollywood Dancing by Avtar Panesar and his Bollywood dancers who will be providing plenty of opportunities to have a go yourselves.
Music and entertainment on the trailer will be provided by the award winning Wellington Pantomime Society. Once again, Langford Lakes have donated a splendid Christmas Tree for the town centre and the massed choir of Beech Grove School will be leading the Carol singing.
This will herald the start of the Christmas sheep competition organised by Churches Together and Reminiscence Learning’s Archie has promised to make an appearance. Returning this year is the ever popular children’s roundabout which is being provided free of charge for all the children. The Lights will be switched on at 6p.m.by Town Mayor Councillor Gary James assisted by two pupils from a local primary school.
