Three Wellington companies have been selected as finalists in the Somerset Business Awards.
Camelot Care which incorporates Camelot House and Camelot Lodge in Wellington, Avalon Nursing Home in Bridgwater, Freshfields in Devon and Acacia Nursing Home in Yeovil has been nominated for the Albert Goodman Family Business Award.
Office Reality Ltd which provides office and business furniture and interior solutions from its Head Office at Westpark, Chelston is nominated for the Business of the Year category.
Accounting, taxation and business advisory and support services company Evolution ABS in West Buckland is nominated in the Skills for Growth category.
Also included in the nominations is eat:Festivals based in Burham-on-Sea which organises Wellington food festival and those in Weston-super-Mare, Taunton, Burnham-on-Sea and Portishead. The not-for-profit company is one of the finalists for the Investing in Somerset Award.
The winner of each of the 14 categories will be announced by Somerset cricketer Peter Trego at a black-tie event on 19 October at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton. The evening will include a short video about each company made by media studies students at Bridgwater and Taunton College.
Judges visited more than 90 companies around the county before drawing up the shortlist of finalists.
Sprague’s Butchers in Wellington High Street has been shortlisted in two separate categories of the Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards 2018.
The business has reached the final three in the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ and ‘Customer Service’ awards despite only opening in January this year and being the first venture in butchery retailing for owner Lloyd Sprague.
Lloyd Sprague’s beef and lamb comes from his father-in-law’s farm at Holcombe Rogus and all other produce from local suppliers.
The Anchor Inn at Hillfarance has been named as a finalist in the Somerset Life ‘Pub of the Year’ category. The pub was a finalist in the ‘Family Dining Award’ category last year.
The winners will be announced at the awards’ presentation evening at Somerset County Cricket Club on 18 October.
