Wetherspoons plans to turn the ground floor of the former Town Hall into an upmarket gastro-pub were unanimously approved of at the Wellington Town Council meeting this week.
“It will be wonderful to see this building cleaned up and put back into use,” said Cllr Gloria Copley. “There also seems to be a chance that their outdoor area will develop and improve Cornhill.”
Cllr Bob Bowrah told the council that he had heard not a single adverse comment from anyone in Wellington about the Wetherspoons proposal. “Why not have good, well-known national brands in our town?” asked Cllr James Hunt.
