Wellington AFC’s last match of 2017 ended in a disappointing 0-2 defeat at home to Bridport.
Both goals, by Mark Salter and Richard Hebditch, came in the second half of ‘an even game’ with Bridport’s ability to take their chances when they came reported to be the only difference between the two sides.
The match survived an early morning pitch inspection after heavy rain and the visitors thanked the home side for their efforts to get the fixture played when several others in the Toolstation Premier League were postponed.
The result does not affect Wellington’s position in the table – they lie in 16th place and above the relegation zone – but will be conscious of the fact that two of the 4 teams lying below them at the foot of the table have played significantly fewer games.
Another big test lies ahead for the Tangerines in the first fixture in 2018 when they play Shepton Mallet on 6th January at the North Street ground. The visitors are in 10th place in the league.
