Sue Young is closing the 10 South Street tea room that she opened earlier this year. “If I’ve learned one thing it’s that I’m not really cut out for business,” said Sue, who has made many friends since she began trading at Easter.
“If it were a community coffee shop then I’d be a great success but I hate taking money off people. And I needed another staff member so I can concentrate on the outside catering but the takings couldn’t justify it.”
So Sue is having an “Everything Must go” sale of china, kitchen equipment and fittings before 10 South St closes its doors in a week or so’s time . “I’m sure people will say I should have given it longer but I’ve got a mortgage to pay and the worry was becoming too much,” she added. “The only good side is that I’ve lost a bit of weight.”
Wellington is home for Sue, who grew up in the town before going off to work in schools, including 17 years running a boarding house at Eton.
