Max Edgecombe (9) is taking the first steps towards a possible career as a footballer. He was chosen for special training with League 2 club Exeter City’s Academy as a result of a tournament last year which was designed to identify local footballing talent for the future.
Max is in Year 4 at Wellesley Park Primary School where Headteacher Lindsay Gabriel admits to being “very proud of him”.
He now travels to Exeter after school on Mondays and Thursdays for 2 1/2 hours training and at weekends for further training, matches and tournaments.
Asked about his ambitions he said he would “love to be a footballer”. His favourite team is Manchester United so he has set his standards quite high.
