Wellesley Park Primary School, Wellington is to have a new Headteacher from January 2019.
In a letter to parents and carers Jo Dentith, Interim Headteacher of the school, said, “The Castle Partnership Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of the new Headteacher for Wellesley Park is Carly Wilkins. Mrs Wilkins is currently working for The Redstart Partnership Trust and has been the Head of School at Minerva Primary in Taunton and is currently working at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School. Mrs Wilkins is very excited about starting at Wellesley Park and will be spending time in school before she starts in the new year.”
In the same letter Mrs Wilkins said, “It is with pleasure that I introduce myself to you as your new Headteacher. Wellesley Park is a fantastic school and everyone has made me feel very welcome. I have worked in a variety of schools in Somerset which have undergone intensive change and which have made remarkable improvements. I am passionate about providing high-quality, meaningful learning opportunities for all children so that they can each reach their full potential. I believe children should feel welcome, inspired, safe and supported when they are learning. They will achieve well if they are clear about what is expected of them and the steps they need to get there.
“I am eager to work in partnership with families and the local community to support our children, enabling them to develop and flourish – thus making Wellesley Park a school that we can all be proud of.”
Mrs Wilkins has been Assistant Head of School and Year 6 at Holy Trinity C of E School in Taunton since September 2017. The school reopened in August 2017 with significant changes in the leadership team after being placed in special measures by Ofsted in January 2017.
Wellesley Park has had two interim Heads since Easter 2018 following the ongoing health issues of long-serving Head Lindsay Gabriel who resigned in September. The school was rated as ‘Good’ in all categories in the most recent Ofsted inspection in 2015.
