Pupils from Beech Grove Primary School in Years 3 and 4 enjoyed a magical night of adventure at Wellington Rugby Club. The pupils – 85 0f them – pitched their tents (on the pitch!) and slept out under the stars with their class mates. It was an opportunity to bond with friends old and new and to challenge themselves to overcome fears.
During the day, the children used the Wellington Foraging Map to navigate their way on a nature walk through The Basins and over Hilly Head. At the recreation ground they took part in a treasure hunt using orienteering skills before a mini beast hunt at Wellington Park.
The evening involved a night walk with star-gazing and glow-stick fun and a campfire. They had to sing for their smores (melted marshmallows between chocolate digestive biscuits) before a pyjama disco and a movie with their teddies inside the Rugby Club.
It was a fantastic experience for these children and staff, parents and pupils at Beech Grove are extremely grateful for the generosity and outstanding community spirit shown by Wellington Rugby Club in enabling this adventure to take place.
