The Sunday concerts in Wellington Park have enjoyed their most successful season for many years according to Dave Mitton, chair of the Friends of Wellington Park.
“Over 3,500 people have enjoyed the music in the park this summer,” said Mr Mitton. “It’s been a fantastically successful year helped, of course, by some wonderful weather.”
Although the concerts are free the Friends raise funds to pay the performers by making a collection and selling ice creams and refreshments. Financially the large audiences have been a boon.
“We won’t need a grant from either Wellington Town Council or Taunton Deane this year,” said Mr Mitton. “And as a final bonus, the renovated fountain is looking wonderful.”
