Peace or Nature were the themes of Wellington Rotary Club’s Young Photographer of the Year Competition. This is the first year Wellington Rotary Club has run this particular competition for young people and the panel of judges were extremely pleased with the quality of the photographs submitted. Competition judges found it extremely difficult to choose winners because the standard was so high. Competitors should be congratulated for their professionalism and skill.
The Winner of the Over 11 Senior Group was Mike Crilly (13) for his study “Bee in Flight”. The runner-up with an atmospheric picture of a “Murmuration of Starlings” was Benjamin Bond (12). In the Under 11 Junior Group Nathaniel Bond (6) was the Winner whose “Autumnal Trees” just pipped brother Joshua (9) who submitted a superb close-up of a frog.
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mrs Gloria Copley presented each Winner with a gift voucher to the value of £50 with the runners-up receiving a Rotary Dictionary. The winning photographs will feature on the cover of the 2013 Wellington Town Guide to be published in June.
