The attraction of Wellington’s High Street to those who want to start or develop businesses will be illustrated once again when ‘Bridal by Posh’ opens on Friday 15 June.
Owner Julie Firbanks is opening her bridal, wedding and cruise wear and special occasion clothes and accessories shop in the former home to The Sporting Duchess before its move to larger premises in South Street.
Julie is relocating from Tiverton where she has owned bridalwear outlets for the past four years. Her reasons make interesting reading for anyone who doubts the continuing attraction of Wellington for independent retailers. She said, “Wellington is now a much livelier town. Tiverton has too many charity shops and people are now more likely to shop in Exeter. I also like the fact that traffic passes through the main street in Wellington and the footfall around the town is very healthy.”
She added, “I live in Cullompton and come into Wellington to shop at Waitrose so this is a very good location for me.”
She identified a further advantage of Wellington for her business over bigger rivals in towns such as Exeter and Taunton. “Because my overheads are much lower I can afford to offer my wedding dresses at prices considerably lower than larger outlets – and all the dresses I stock will be renewed every year.”
For those who are planning a wedding or special occasion or have a summer cruise in the diary, Bridal by Posh may be the first place to look for clothes, shoes, bags and hats.
