The Skylark’s staff have handed over a cheque for nearly £600 to a hospice which cared for a former kitchen worker at the pub who died last year from cancer.
The money was raised from the pub’s successful and enterprising Christmas Market.
Steve Cook, The Skylark’s key holder, who organised the market, said: “It went really well. We were very pleased to be able to hand over the cheque in memory of Sylvia and were joined by her family and some of her colleagues.”
Other money-raising events are now planned. Steve said, “We’ll be holding events throughout the year to raise money for other charities including Help for Heroes and the Somerset and Devon Air Ambulance. We’re also planning to hold our bike night again this year. Last year it was a massive success with around 300 motorbikes. We’ve love to have around 1,000 this year and some celebrities as well. It will probably take place in September.”
