The dangerous right turn off the A38 into the Blackdown Garden Centre was once more the subject of serious concern to Wellinton town councillors . They strongly recommended to Taunton planners that an attempt by the owners to have an unfulfilled requirement to build a right turn lane off the main road lifted be categorically refused.
“Let’s not be mealy-mouthed and recommend that this application be refused until this road safety issue is sorted out, “said Cllr Andy Govier. “It’s appalling that the owners are trying to remove this requirement. Rumwell Farm Shop just two miles down the road have done the right thing. They have a right turn lane and so should Blackdown,” added Cllr Mark Lithgow.
“This place is a crossover from a garden centre to a shopping centre and they sho7uld be made to follow the rules,” said Cllr Peter Critchard.
