Wellington Football Club continued their fine run of wins with a victory over Warminster Town on Saturday. Goals by Glen Wright and Scott Drayton either side of half-time secured 3 valuable points and the team are now leading the Toolstation Division 1 Western league by 4 points on 42. The team’s nearest rivals – Hengrove Athletic – have 38 points, just one point ahead of Keynsham Town in third place.
The Tangerines’ next two league games are both home fixtures – and both are against near rivals. The match on Saturday 5 November is a genuinely exciting prospect as the Tangerines face second-placed Hengrove Athletic and on Saturday 12 November they face 4th placed Malmesbury Victoria. Both fixtures kick off at 3pm.
Supporters are enjoying the success of the team and the Tangerines’ games are attracting healthy numbers of spectators – but not as many as Keynsham Town who had the highest attendance in the league last Saturday. But more may soon be tempted to the North Street ground to watch the team’s spirited football and enjoy its ongoing success.
