Wellington AFC suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away at Chipping Sodbury Town on Saturday 7th April when the home side’s George Box scored a winner in injury time.
The hosts said the visitors were ‘unfortunate’ to come away from the match with no points and praised their keeper Sam Burgess for making ‘crucial saves’.
The two teams last met in February when Wellington won 3-1 and have been in close proximity to one another in the league recently. As a result this fixture was expected to be closely fought. Chipping Sodbury are now one place above the Tangerines in 13th place but have 5 more points.
Wellington now have two home fixtures – against 4th placed Melksham Town on Wednesday 11th April and against Bitton on Saturday 14th April. Bitton are in 9th position in the Toolstation Premier League. This will be the final home game of the season and the club has issued a reunion invitation to all past players. The event will begin with a fish and chip lunch in the club house, followed by the match and drinks afterwards.
Wellington will then face 5 away fixtures ending with the rearranged match against Cadbury Heath on 3rd May which was postponed on 2nd April due to a waterlogged pitch.
