Transition Town Wellington are inviting anyone with an interest in the community orchards movement to come along this Saturday to Rockwell Green and get in on the absolute foundations of their newest and most ambitious project to date.
“We have permission to plant more edible fruit and nut trees and bushes in a new area – and it’s the biggest project so far – on nearly an acre of land!” said TTW member Anita Roy.
“We will be working with the Somerset Rural Youth Project and the Youth Centre, and the field is a blank canvas at the moment. Come along this month to have input from the start in what we do there. We really need new volunteers to be able to see the dream become a reality, so please join us and help us make this happen.”
There are two sessions this Saturday; one at the site and a planning meeting later.
10am – Meet on site at the bottom of Dobree Park near the railway line. We will bring surveying equipment to measure the plot, and need help doing this. We can also discuss ideas and start to formulate a plan. Postcode either via Dobree Park TA21 9RT, or walking access via Greenway road TA21 9DE.
12 noon – meet at the Dolphin Pub, in the room upstairs. We can create a wish list, and start to sketch out a full-scale plan on paper!
