Wellington AFC continue to climb the Toolstation Premier League with a fine 1-4 victory away at Cadbury Heath on Saturday 6 October. They are now in 8th place with 13 points and, most importantly, seem to have hit a winning streak which will add significantly to the team’s confidence.
The goals came quickly. Wellington were 0-3 ahead inside 15 minutes and added a fourth to their impressive tally on 75 minutes. Goals by four different players – Glen Wright, Conor Bryant, Tom Hawkins and Joe Chamberlain – suggests the team has an exciting range of attacking options to add to a steady and reliable defence. Glen Wright was named as Man of the Match.
The Tangerines now play two matches in the same week once more: on Wednesday 10 October they play away at Clevedon Town in the Somerset FA Premier Cup and on Saturday 13 October they are at home once again to Bradford Town. Clevedon are currently in 4th place in the Toolstation Premier Division and Bradford Town are just below Wellington with the same number of points. Wellington would obviously welcome strong local support at the North Street ground for this fixture.
