The Tour de France will focus more attention on cycling than at any other time of the year, especially with Britain having a possible overall winner in the form of Bradley Wiggins and a media pin-up in Mark Cavendish. Wellington is a really active cycling community with the Wellington Wheelers being one of the most active clubs in the SW. Here are details of their summer programme:
“We have club runs on a Tuesday and Sunday as well as ad hoc rides and mountain biking that get put together on the club’s Facebook pages. On alternate Wednesdays we have an evening ride throughout the year, so there’s an opportunity for a gentler ride for the less experienced,” writes committee member Charles Biscoe
“Every two weeks is the 10 mile time trial, starting at Longforth car park, Wednesday evening with the next one on 11-7-2012 and is £4 but all riders must belong to a CTT affiliated club i.e. Wellington Wheelers, Somerset RC or any other cycling/triathlon club that is affiliated. They are great fun and good for all people. And all riders must be 18+ for safety reasons.
“Of course, as a club we have any number of social events, and anyone is welcome to join us on any of our rides without being a member straight away.
