A busy route on the south side of Wellington is currently closed to traffic.
The town council says Wessex Water has closed Pyles Thorne Road to perform leak repairs.
The 24-hour carriageway closure is expected to end on Monday.
Somerset Council has said: “We recognise that this is not an ideal situation given the ongoing closure of Waterloo Road.
“However, as these works are required to repair a leak and local reservoirs remain at significantly reduced levels, it is in the public interest that the works proceed without delay.
“Fortunately, as it is currently the school holiday period, we anticipate that traffic volumes will be lower than would normally be expected.”
