Wellington and Taunton Mayors, Bob Bowrah and Vivienne Stock-Williams, led councillors, members and officials of the Wellington branch of The Royal British Legion, Wellington Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Sam Griffiths, parishioners and members of the public in laying crosses at the church’s Field of Remembrance in South Street on Sunday 6 November.
The crosses will be incinerated later this week and the ashes scattered in the Garden of Remembrance during the wreath-laying ceremony in Wellington Park on Sunday 13 November at 3.15pm. The ceremony follows a parade from Wellington School at 2.55pm.
On Friday 11 November RBL members – including its standard bearer – will join the Mayor and councillors in a civic march through the town before leading a national two-minute silence at 11am.
