There will be some very special guests when Wellington Carnival returns later this month.
Taking part in the procession on September 24th will be Vogue Baton Twirlers – half of whom represent England.
Leading them will be Lauran Thorne, who originally comes from Wellington and who captains her country (she is pictured below with the flag of St George).
The team are pictured taking part in the recent Baton Twirling World Championships in Eindhoven, Holland, where they gained fourth place.
Baton twirling is an indoor sport but the athletes are making an exception for their appearance in Wellington.
“We’re all really looking forward to it,” said Lauran. “It will be great for me to be performing in Wellington too.
