Local estate agents Gibbins Richards are training hard for their upcoming 10k Commando Challenge on 6th October. The charity event, held at the Royal Marine base at Lympstone, is a tough and demanding 6k cross-country run with a 4k obstacle course in the middle. Wellington office Branch Manager Nick Girone-Maddocks, who is one of the ‘Special Agents’ team members said “This is new territory for most of us. Of the six staff members taking part, only two have done this challenge before. The rest of us are, by our own admission, not very fit!”.
The money raised by the team goes towards the Air Ambulance, and they are hoping to hit some good figures, just like a day at the office. Bridgwater Branch Manager Ben Grant said “We’re aiming to raise about £1,000 between us, but once we hit that target we’ll go for a higher amount! If anyone wants to sponsor us please can they go and see Nick at the Wellington office?”
The team have already seen the benefits of some intense training, with regular runs around Wellington after a busy day at the office. Nick said “There’s no doubt that the team runs are doing brilliantly for our morale, both in the office and out. So far all of the runs have gained great attention from all watching us – it’s great to be cheered and whooped as we run past. It’s just hard not to stop at the pubs….”
