First, the good news: one of Wellington’s impressive range of independent retailers is returning to the town after a short absence – and bringing a charming shop back to life in the process. ‘Nurtured by Nature’, formerly in the High Street, reopened on Good Friday in what was Wellington Book Shop in South Street. The bad news is that Nurtured by Nature’s original shop still lies empty and joins the list of long-term vacant plots in the town.Nurtured by Nature opened in 2010 selling a range of Fairtrade clothes and accessories, eco toiletries, make-up and health supplements. It closed earlier this year when owners Sean Honnoraty and Stacy Faulkner chose to focus on their on-line business. Explaining their reasons for opening once again, Sean said, “The other shop was a bit too big and costly. This space is much more homely and suits us better. We are, though, continuing to trade on-line too.”South Street’s retail outlets are all now currently occupied, almost exclusively by independent traders. If the High Street and Fore Street could match this, the town would be thriving.Nurtured by Nature are offering a 10% reduction on all their stock throughout April on receipt of a leaflet that can be found in other shops in the town.
