Families with children preparing to start Reception next month are being invited to attend a series of special Meet and Greet sessions in Wellington.
They are designed to help children make new friends and settle into school life before the new term begins.
The events, organised by Everyone Active in partnership with Wellington Town Council and Somerset Council, will take place on Wednesday, September 2, at the Sports Centre
Organisers say the sessions will provide a fun and informal play environment where children can meet some of their future classmates ahead of their first day at school.
Activities will include access to exciting inflatable play equipment, allowing children to socialise and build confidence in a relaxed setting.
Organisers hope the event will help children start their school journey with familiar faces and new found confidence, making the transition into Reception an enjoyable experience for both children and parents.
A number of sessions are scheduled throughout the day to accommodate children attending different schools:
- 9am to 10am – St John’s School
- 10.15am to 11.15am – Rockwell Green School
- 11.30am to 12.30pm – Beech Grove School
- 1pm to 2pm – Wellesley Park School
- 2.15pm to 3.15pm – IKB School
- 3.30pm to 4.30pm – Local village schools
- The event is open to all children due to begin Reception classes this September. A parent or responsible adult must remain with their child throughout the session.
Admission costs £1 per child, although organisers stress that families facing financial difficulties should make contact to discuss support options.
