A reminder that waste collections in Wellington are changing days this week – and starting earlier.
Because of no collections today (Bank Holiday Monday), they will all be one day later than the usual schedule.
If your usual collection day is today (Monday), it will now take place tomorrow etc.
For those who usually have a Friday collection, their collection will be rescheduled to this Saturday.
Somerset Council has also said that, because of the high temperatures, collections will begin at 6am this week, starting tomorrow.
The early starts are to help crews impacted by the hot weather and help to minimise any chance of disruption to recycling, rubbish or garden waste collections across the county.
The council is asking residents to put their bins out the night before to make sure they are prepared for the early start.
Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Lead Member for Communities, Environment and Climate Change, said: “After such cool weather we’ve had in recent weeks, temperatures are expected to rise sharply.
“It’s forecast to be very hot next week, so our crews need to start earlier to avoid the worst of the heat.”
Somerset’s waste and recycling collection crews make more than 350,000 collections a week.
