A joyous service of hymns and Pimm’s to celebrate the Patronal Festival, along with a shortened form of Holy Communion, has been held at St Mary’s Church, Hemyock.
Led by the Rector, the Rev Vanessa Cole, the larger than normal congregation enjoyed seven hymns selected by members of the community and accompanied by organist Laurence Blyth
Four people spoke about their reason for their choice with the remaining three hymns decided by vote.
The hymns included Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer, I Danced in the Morning, Love Divine All Loves Excelling and Be Still for the Presence of the Lord.
Following the service, those present enjoyed nibbles and, of course, a glass of Pimm’s.
There was also a successful Gift Day – with a refreshments afternoon including a quiz and crafts – which raised around £1,000 towards the running expenses of the church.
Thanks are expressed to all who supported the day.
This Sunday will see a special service at 10.30am to mark the full retirement of Rev John Stone to which everyone is warmly welcomed.
