Chris Potter UK sausage champ

Potters makes Britain’s best sausages – and that’s official. Tim Potter’s son Chris has just taken the Champion of Champions award at the trade’s annual competition in London, beating 18 other regional bangers to the gold award.

Chris, who won with his own recipe for a pork, turkey, and cranberry sausage, said he was “speechless” at learning he had won the UK title after the same sausage won the SW award last year.

“I’m absolutely over the moon,” he told Meat Trades Journal. “This is a dream for me because I absolutely love entering competitions. I’ve won things with sausages before, but never anything to this extent, so I can’t really explain just how happy I am.”

Chris, 31, has been working in the family business for 16 years and manages the manufacturing side, predominantly sausages and pasties.

He added that he thought it was his innovative flavours that saw him take away the top prize: “You don’t see a lot of sausages with turkey in them.”

Senior judge Fred A’Court said“I’m delighted that a pork, turkey and cranberry sausage has won this year, because it’s just that little bit different, and it’s perfect timing for this competition as it’s coming up to Christmas. The butcher who won with that sausage will do extremely well.”
