The Globe, Milverton, has been named ‘Pub of the Year’ in the Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards 2017 winning the judges’ vote over The Swan at Wedmore and The White Post, Rimpton who were also shortlisted.
The awards were announced at a gala presentation at the Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton on Thursday 19 October.
Two other local food outlets were shortlisted in different categories: Moonbeams Farm, Wellington, was shortlisted for ‘Best Product/Producer of the Year’ awarded to Bath Soft Cheese and Rumwell Farm Shop was one of three outlets on the shortlist for ‘Independent Retailer of the Year’ with the award going to Brockley Stores, Brockley.
Mark and Adele Tarry have been at The Globe, Milverton, for 11 years and have developed an enviable reputation for imaginative menus and the atmosphere they have created. They have won a Somerset Life Food and Drink Award for Gastro Pub of the Year in 2014 and their chef Kaan Atasoy was named Chef of the Year in 2013
