This year the official Switch On of Wellington’s Christmas lights will provide fun for all the family today from 4pm – 7pm. The festivities will include performances from the Wellington Majorettes and Wellington Pantomime Group’s cast of Alice in Wonderland . Those joining us in the celebrations will also be able to hear children from Wellington’s schools in the Big Sing, see the Nativity scene brought to us this year by Wellesley Park School, and catch a glimpse of the donkey from Sunnyside donkeys.
There will be the usual free roundabout for little ones, along with carol singing and the Christmas message. The Christmas message this year will be delivered by the Bishop of Taunton.
All the celebrations will once again be taking place on the High Street. However, throughout the town shopkeepers hope to open late for all those Christmas shoppers keen to get presents wrapped and under the tree. A Celebration of Light will be taking place in the Quaker Meeting House and Father Christmas will once again be stopping by at the Wellington Weekly offices for visitors of all ages.
Song sheets will be handed out so all the family will be able to join in the traditional Christmas songs to be sung around the Nordic Christmas tree, kindly donated by Langford Lakes.
