“WOW!! The performance of Grease on Tuesday and Wednesday night was truly amazing. It not only took me back to the first time I saw Grease at the cinema it also brought back lots of forgotten emotions associated with the film. Laurel Cottey playing the role of Sandy made me want to cry when she sang as it was so emotional and beautiful, in fact all of the soloists were simply stunning.
“The relationships between the characters were really well played and the T-Birds were very believable, especially Tom Kelvey who really stood out playing the role of Kenickie – having said that, the level of detail that each of the actors put in to their character really was exceptional. In the Pink Ladies, Georgia Channon playing the role of Frenchy and Joanna Cooper playing the role of Jan had some excellent comic moments which were played out to perfection.
“The group songs were really amazing, particularly the girls with their ‘do-whaps’ and ‘wo wo wo’s’ accompanying the others, for example during ‘Freddie My Love,’ so tuneful at all times.
“Casey Evett as the Teen Angel was extremely brave as the hall was packed out and demonstrated exceptional courage for a Year 7 student – but she did an amazing job and she really did sing like an angel.
“The technical crew deserve a special mention as I thought they were flawless, despite a few issues with the microphones and the stage crew were seamless in the removal and alterations of the set.
“The evening was outstanding and I had a fabulous time. Some of the acting and music made me laugh some just made me tap my feet wildly and want to join in! I am so glad I saw this production and would like to personally thank every single member of the cast from the star performers to the Chorus hand-jiving, the band who gave up their time to play, the staff who helped out over the two nights by supporting, as well as Mrs Cotton and Mrs Chidgey for their tireless efforts putting on the production.
