After four months in Special Measures following an Ofsted report that labelled much of Court Fields teaching and management “unsatisfactory”, the school is to become an academy next year.
Castle School, the most successful state school in Taunton, will be the sponsor for the new academy and Court Fields will become part of The Castle School Academy Trust on January 1st, although it will keep the name Court Fields.
Mrs Faull, Headteacher of Court Fields, said: This is an exciting partnership between Court Fields and The Castle School. I am sure it will build on our recent success and be extremely beneficial for staff and students.
“We have worked closely with The Castle School for a number of years and this seems to be the next natural step for us. We look forward to an exciting next phase in Court Fields development “.
The Castle School Trust already has two other partner schools, Haygrove in Bridgwater and Ansford in Castle Cary, both of which have seen a significant rise in exam results recently. Both been judged Good and with outstanding features by Ofsted since the schools converted together two years ago.
Mrs Watson, Headteacher of The Castle School) said: “We are delighted that we have been asked to sponsor Court Fields. Already we can see a huge drive for improvement there. Our aim is that all four schools deliver an equally high quality education for all the children across the partnership.
“I am really pleased to see the recent spectacular set of Maths results at Court Fields and I am confident that improvement in results will continue as the school becomes a full member of the Trust.”
