Plans for a new railway station in Wellington are still on track.
Information has recently been sent out to people in the Longforth Farm area for their comments and Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow (pictured), met with Chris Winter from the developers to view the proposed site and discuss the plans.
The planning application for the wider development on the site adjacent to the Longforth Farm estate is now being prepared in liaison with Network Rail, with the aim of being submitted in the autumn.
Rebecca Pow said: “I had an informative meeting and walk around the proposed site with Chris Winter. I have championed this project and have been working constructively with all stakeholders and it is welcome news that the planning application may be submitted this autumn.
“I pledged to work to bring a rail station to Wellington when I was first elected to Parliament in 2015 and this is genuinely exciting progress.
“I am proud to be part of the team bringing this forward and I shall continue to play my role, in particular as the link between activity on the ground in the constituency and the Department of Transport in Westminster.”
Wrong location. Not exactly accessible to people in Wellington. No bus service and too far to walk. Just encouraging more use of cars.
I’m certainly no Liberal Democrat but I was under the impression that this project was down to the work of Cllr Rigby and the rest of the transport department at SWT/SCC
There are no negatives to this at all. Plus it’s in the right place really (it was never gonna be perfect) and I’m sure a bus stop will come.
