This Sunday is the Community Opening of the refurbished Pavilion on Wellington Playing Fields by the Mayor of Wellington, Mrs Gloria Copley on from 12 noon at the Wellington Playing Fields (North Street Car Park and Courtland’s Rd)
the opening will be followed by a Festival of Sport with member clubs of the Wellington and District Federation of Sports Clubs running matches, demonstrations, come and try sessions, workshops and skills testing in archery, cricket, dance, fencing, football, rugby, squash, Tae Kwon Do and tennis. Jan Ross form SASP will also be there with the Community Games activities for everyone. arrow archery, mat bowls, egg and spoon races, space hoppers. Many of these activities will be free.
For those looking of a less active afternoon there will be a BBQ, live music and refreshments from the Cricket and Football Clubhouses.
It is the ideal time to take this opportunity to see the new changing rooms for use by the cricket, football and tennis players. The Club House in the pavilion is under license to Wellington Cricket Club and maybe hired by other clubs via the cricket club.
