The new Wellington Pump Track at the bottom of the Rec will be officially opened tomorrow (Saturday).
The town council has led the project, in partnership with Wellington Sports Federation and the Wellington Pumptrack, Skatepark & Dirt Jumps group.
It has created a facility for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling, scooting, and skating.
The official opening event, from 10am to 2pm, will start with opening speeches and a ribbon cutting, followed by a demonstration of the track by contractors, Clark & Kent.
There will then be open riding sessions from 11am to noon and 12.30pm to 2pm with a remote control car demonstration in between.
Riders will be asked to register at the Wellington Pumptrack, Skatepark & Dirt Jumps stall to keep the track safe.
There will be a variety of stalls at the event including local information, cycle/skate businesses, and food and drink.
The police will also be on site to mark bikes and provide crime prevention advice.
The town council took the decision to allow access to the track ahead of the official opening and it has proved extremely popular.
