A successful Wimbledon Tournament was held at Wellington Tennis Club when traditionally Wimbledon has a rest day on the middle Sunday.
Twenty members took part with a mix of Seniors and Juniors. Pairs were drawn from a hat and 5 games were played for each of the 5 rounds completed.
Chairman, Sue Rackley, organised the tournament, ably assisted by the committee, and presented the winning medals at the end of the day. James Cross was the Senior winner with Philippa Deem the runner up whilst Oliver Kennedy won the Juniors narrowly besting his older sister, Anna.
After the presentations, a tasty barbecue was held finishing off with traditional strawberries and cream! Many thanks to Geoff Lee and Simon Cross for running the barbecue and to Janet and Sue for organising the food. Also a raffle raised £30 for ‘The Dan Maskell Trust’ to support disabled tennis players.
