Tribute South West Regional Two: Tiverton 60pts, Wellington Chiefs 7
Wellington Chiefs are still searching for their first win after a heavy local derby defeat yesterday (Saturday).
The hosts made a strong start and had built a 24pts–7 advantage by half-time, scoring four tries and adding two conversions.
Wellington’s response came through Mikey Taylor, who crossed for a try with Jonny Clist adding the conversion to briefly keep the Chiefs in touch.
Any hopes of a second-half revival were dealt a major blow shortly after the break when Wellington were reduced to 14 men, Will Hodgson being sent off on 45 minutes.
Tiverton quickly made their numerical advantage count and extended their lead with a penalty try to move 31pts–7 ahead.
From there the game became increasingly one-sided as Tiverton ran in further tries at regular intervals to complete a comfortable victory.
The Chiefs will be looking to open their win account next Saturday when mid-table Crediton visit the Athletic Ground.
Wellington 2nds also suffered a heavy defeat yesterday – they were beaten 87pts-17 at home to North Petherton 2nds.
