A group of runners from Wellington School represented Somerset in challenging conditions at the South West Schools Cross-Country Championships.
Jemima ran for the Year 7 girls’ team, Elsa for the Junior girls, Kaan represented the Junior boys’ team and cross-country captain Alice ran in the Senior girls’ race.
The school reports: “Despite the tough conditions, all four runners showed true grit and determination, battling through the mud to complete the course and finishing strongly.
“Their efforts were rewarded with excellent individual and team performances.
“Kaan and Elsa both qualified for the National Cross-Country Championships in Liverpool in March, while Elsa and Alice both helped their respective age groups to win the team prizes for Somerset.
“It was a superb effort from all involved and they were credit to both themselves and the school.”
