The ladies from Wellington Bowling Club played their first away match of the season against Taunton Deane and were pipped by just one shot, 51–50.
Wendy Scott, Janet Moore and Shirley Samuel were level with their opponents on seven shots apiece at the halfway point but the home team picked up the pace in the second half to win comfortably, 22–11.
Pauline Wadham, Diana Dagg and Lynda Manning set off at great pace and their opponents weren’t able to catch them. The Wellington side won in style, 27 shots to 12.
Debbie Lane, Angela Moore and Gill Groves were playing catch-up in their game but they bowled well and only lost by five shots, 17–12.
