This evening, we have the chance to see the most significant solar eclipse since 1999 and Wellington is set to have some of the best viewing in the South West.
More than 90% coverage is expected at about 7.14pm.
Our town council says there are a few places locally where it would be good to watch the eclipse:
- Wellington Park – the Ha-Ha looks over the Recreation Ground to the west.
- Hilly Head – The sun sets behind Rockwell Green.
- Wellington Monument – Gorgeous views at any time but note that trees may obscure the view.
WARNING: if you are intending to watch the eclipse, please be aware that looking directly at the sun without the proper eye protection (undamaged glasses with the international safety standard ISO 12312-2 printed on them) can cause permanent damage to your eyesight.
