The ladies from Wellington Bowling Club continued their fine season by winning a closely-fought match against North Petherton.
In the first of the three games, Janet Lovell, Lisa Dart and Gill Groves were leading 8-7 after ten ends but their opponents were bowling well and overtook them to pinch it 19–16.
Wendy Scott, June Anderson and Chrissie Willcocks were 16–8 down after 15 ends. They started to catch up but it was too little too late and North Petherton won by two shots, 18–16.
Debbie Lane, Pauline Wadham and Marguerite Nichols knew they would have to do well if they were to seal the match.
After seven ends, the sides were level on six shots apiece but the Wellington ladies bowled exceptionally well to win 23–13.
Their success gave Wellington overall victory by 55 shots to 50.
