Good times over the Bank Holiday at two of the best country pubs in the Blackdowns. The Culm Valley Inn, a pub where there’s often more dogs than people in the bar, is holding a beer festival over the weekend. Head east about three miles, climbing to an altitude of 900 ft or so and you’ll find yourself at the Half Moon Inn, a pub with the best views in Somerset (although technically it’s in Devon). Steam nuts need to stay away from the pub on Monday because Coldharbour Mill is steamed up. It’s a great day out and a fascinating glimpse back to the days when this rural area was all about manufacturing and Wellington itself was an industrial mill town. http://www.coldharbourmill.org.uk/
