Brooke helps Young Lionesses into UEFA finals

Wellington footballer Brooke Aspin will fly home from Portugal having helped England U19s successfully negotiate their final Euros qualifying matches this week.

The Young Lionesses won both of their opening games in Lisbon – beating Switzerland 2-0 last Wednesday and then the host country 1-0 on Saturday – to qualify for the UEFA finals in Lithuania from July 14th to 27th.

Brooke was in the starting line-up for both games but, with England already through, was among the substitutes as they took on Italy this afternoon (Tuesday).

They completed a great win by making it three wins out of three with a 4-1 victory.

Brooke, 18, plays for Bristol City in the Women’s Super League

She signed a four-year contract with WSL champions Chelsea last July before returning to City on a season-long loan to continue her development.

A former pupil of Court Fields School, Brooke has represented her country across the age groups.

She will be back in WSL action with Bristol City on Sunday as they travel to take on Arsenal.
