NEW small businesses in the area have just two weeks left to apply for grant funding to help get them on their feet.
Last year Taunton Deane council distributed £20,000 of grants to locally based start-ups and is hoping to be able to help even more budding entrepreneurs this year.
Up to £500 is available to start-ups in the borough – as long as they fit the criteria and make a sound business case. Funding cannot be guaranteed as the awards are competitive.
Cllr Norman Cavill, who holds the Economic Development and the Arts portfolio, said: “Small business is the lifeblood of the local economy and we are lucky to have so many interesting and innovative businesses here in Taunton Deane – but there’s always room for the next one!
“This Grant is part of our commitment to assist and encourage business start-ups in Taunton Deane.
Applicants need to show they are creating jobs – including their own – will procure locally and they must apply within six months of starting up.
