TOP STORY: Hosepipe ban from tomorrow

A temporary hosepipe ban is being imposed across our area from tomorrow (Tuesday).

Wessex Water announced this morning that ban would come into effect from 12.01am for all of its water supply customers.

A statement said: “This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and is one we had hoped to avoid.

“It’s the first time in 50 years that we have asked customers not to use hosepipes for non-essential activities, such as watering gardens, washing vehicles and cleaning patios.

“The ban will help protect water supplies during the ongoing extreme drought and reduce pressure on our network.

“We are not running out of water for essential use. However, demand is very high, and we are finding it challenging to move enough water around our network, especially at busy times of the day.

“Some customers and activities may be exempt from the ban. Please visit our website to check if you qualify or contact us if you need advice.

“We know you may have questions about what this means for you. We’ve answered some of the most common questions below.
