A charity match at Wellington RFC on Saturday proved a huge success.

Firstly, WOW what an amazing day, thank to everyone who turned up to support us and our charity!
Four weeks ago our club captain Helen had the idea to turn our friendly fixture into a charity event for Coppafeel a charity that Helen has personal experience with.
Our admin team ran with this idea and got the wheels turning. Our Vixens stepped up in every way, sourcing raffle prizes, selling tickets, spreading the word, baking cakes and helping in any way they could. The social media team hit it hard and gave us all the exposure we could wish for.
Due to the ground conditions, we sadly lost our opposition and our ref with less than a week to go.
Wellington men had planned a social for the day of our event and, when they realised we had no team to play, captain Ollie Price gladly agreed to gather a team to give us a game and ensure our event went ahead – seriously guys we can’t thank you enough.
We think you won the touch game but we absolutely knocked you off the park in the sports day!
Our coach then reached out to her coach from her U18s days, Tom Knell, who was more than happy to step in and take the whistle for the game, Tom you are an absolute legend and helped to make the game fun and give our new ladies a chance to feel the pitch!
Big thanks to Caroline and Heidi for keeping us all fed and watered on the day while our medic Eric had a restful day and enjoyed watching some rugby without any interruptions – thank you, Eric.
We will be sending out thank yous to all the businesses which donated raffle prizes, so many of them and so generous in their donations.
The Vixens, what a bunch of diamonds you really are! To sit in the heat of the day was hard work, but you guys absolutely gave it everything on that pitch and off it.
The club was teeming with Vixens doing what they do best, being a team and making sure everything went smoothly on the day. Big love to each and everyone of you, and your families’ help on the day was amazing. Thank you from all of us.
Our admin team – no words can describe what you guys pulled off in just under four weeks. You really are super stars! Never gave up, chased the dream and dealt with all the ups and downs and you delivered in a massive way.
It wouldn’t have happened without you girls, so proud of you all and so grateful for everything you do for our Vixens.
Our coach, you lead by example every single time, your girls love you and this was so visible!
What a bonus to actually have you on the pitch with them for the game, this was the cherry on the top for all of them.
Keep doing what you’re doing and this will be an awesome season for you all!
And, finally, we raised £1155.38! Blown away! Thank you to you all!
