Year 10 students at Kingsmead School Wiveliscombe experienced careers ‘speed dating’ to help them build their knowledge of the wide variety of careers available to them upon leaving education. The school welcomed a number of industry representatives who gave their time to explain both what their employment involves and the training and qualifications needed for entry and success.
The speed dating approach meant that groups of students spent 5-10 minutes with each person finding out first-hand about what their job entails. Individuals from HM Forces, the Fire Service, marketing, social care, law, engineering and farming were represented at the event.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the day and broadened their awareness of a wide range of careers and qualifications. Head of Applied Learning Charlie Pierce said “We really appreciate the time our visitors spent explaining to students, it was invaluable in helping our young people make informed choices about their futures.”
